Tourism Students Day
The Tourism Students Day (TSD) is an educational and industry immersion program organized by myEventology Co. in partnership with the Tourism and Hospitality Educators Association in the Visayas (THEA-V) as a companion event to the International Travel Festival. Designed to bridge the gap between the academe and the industry, TSD provides a platform for tourism and hospitality students to connect with professionals, gain practical exposure, and showcase their skills in a real-world environment.
Since its introduction in 2016, TSD has become one of the most anticipated events for colleges and universities in Cebu and neighboring regions. Each year, hundreds of students participate in a day filled with learning, creativity, and collaboration. The program typically includes:
- Seminars and panel discussions featuring industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and tourism officials who share insights on current trends, career opportunities, best practices, and sustainability.
- Competitions (academic and non-academic) such as quiz bowls, essay writing, poster making, tour packaging and costing, tour guiding, cultural showcases, event vlogging, and Mister and Miss Tourism Cebu.
- Networking sessions that allow students to meet industry professionals, tourism stakeholders, and potential mentors, giving them valuable connections for future careers.
TSD is more than just a learning activity. It is a celebration of the next generation of tourism professionals. It reflects myEventology Co.’s commitment to investing in the future of the industry by nurturing young talent, promoting responsible and sustainable tourism practices, and encouraging innovation at the student level.
Over the years, TSD has welcomed the participation of institutions in the Visayas that offer tourism and hospitality management courses, including:
- Asian College of Technology
- Cebu Normal University
- Cebu Technological University
- Cebu Technological University - Danao Campus
- Lapu-Lapu Cebu International College
- Professional Academy of the Philippines
- Southwestern University
- St. Cecilia’s College
- University of Cebu
- University of San Carlos
- University of San Jose - Recoletos
- University of Southern Philippines Foundation
- University of the Visayas
By engaging these institutions and their students, TSD has become a key platform where young people are empowered to contribute ideas, showcase their capabilities, and prepare for active roles in shaping the future of tourism in the Philippines.
